Hawaiian Electric to Replace Aging Tranformers and Underground Cable
Construction Begins October 24 on Much-needed Improvements
On October 24, Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO) begins construction on portions of East Hind Drive, Papai Street, Hind Place, and Manauwea Street to replace aging underground cable and transfomers with new equipment that will improve availability and reliability of power in the area. HECO targets completion by the end of this year, weather permitting. Construction starts at the intersection of East Hind and Kalaniana'ole and moves mauka.
Construction will be scheduled during daylight hours of 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays. No holiday or weekend work is planned.
