Aina Haina Shopping Center

Curious to find out what changes are in store for our shopping center? Want to have a voice in the outcome? Come to the AHCA general meeting on Thursday 25 at 7 pm in the Cafeteria of the Aina Haina Elementary School.

Read this recent article from Pacific Business News, or this article from the Honolulu Advertiser. The sale of the shopping center in 2007 was also reported on by Pacific Busines News.

Meeting follow-up: Letter to ACE President Marvin Lotz (Oct 15, 2008) and response from Marvin Lotz indicating acceptance of the invitation to the Jan 14 General Meeting of the AHCA.

Follow-up of the Jan 14 General Meeting:
On Sat Nov 7 the Association writes again to Lotz to set up a meeting to share plans and drawings.

  1. January 24: Letter from the AHCA to Aina Haina Shopping Center owner American Commercial Equities LLC (ACE), President Marvin Lotz, regarding the issue of retaining the Union 76 Service Station. The letter also requests the Architectural Drawings & Plans for the Aina Haina Shopping Center for Traffic Safety Reasons.
  2. January 25: Emailed response from ACE President Marvin Lotz.
  3. February 5: Letter from the AHCA to DPP director David K. Tanoue regarding traffic, safety and other community concerns with the planning and permitting process, asking access to all relevant documents.
  4. Questions and Answers document by AHSC Owners American Commercial Equities in response to list of question submitted by AHCA
  5. March 12, 2009: City Dept of Planning & Permitting denies AHCA’s request for prompt notification of AHSC building permit applications. Read the letter from DPP director David Tanoue.

The Honolulu Advertiser reports on Foodland’s plans to overhaul their Aina Haina store to the upscale Foodland Farms format (Feb 27, 2009).
